NAAFI’s Inaugural Forum 5-a-Side Tournament a Roaring Success

The first-ever Forum football tournament kicked off on the 17th of July at Meadowside Leisure Centre, with four teams – NAAFI, Specsavers (SMO Salah), Aztec (Aztekkers), and Acroton Stanley – vying for the coveted Forum 5-a-side cup.

This tournament is the first initiative in a campaign to promote physical activity, networking, and social interaction among NAAFI HQ personnel.

Group Stage

The Aztekkers stormed out of the blocks, demolishing SMO Salah 6-0 in the opening match. In a thrilling encounter whilst in the 2nd game of the tournament Acroton Stanley fought back from 2-0 down to narrowly beat NAAFI 4-2.

The Aztekkers continued their dominant form with a comfortable win over Acroton Stanley in round 2, while SMO Salah salvaged a point against NAAFI with a late equaliser to finish the game 3-3.

Heading into the final round, all four teams had a chance to qualify for the final. SMO Salah kept their hopes alive with a 3-0 victory over Acroton Stanley, but the Aztekkers ended NAAFI’s hopes of getting to the final with a narrow 3-2 victory, which meant Aztekkers remained undefeated heading into the final.

The Final

The final pitted the formidable Aztekkers against SMO Salah, who had suffered a heavy defeat at their hands earlier in the tournament. This time, SMO Salah started brightly, taking an early lead. However, the Aztekkers’ quality shone through as they eventually triumphed 4-1 to claim the inaugural Forum 5-a-side title.

Congratulations to the Aztekkers!

We would like to thank everyone who participated in our first-ever Forum 5-a-side tournament. The event was a huge success, and we look forward to hosting an even bigger and better tournament in the future.
