Here at the NAAFI Fund, we’re all about giving back to Armed Forces communities, and we couldn’t be more excited to share this fantastic project! We recently had the privilege of granting £10,000 to the Welfare Team in Chetwynd Barracks, Nottingham to create an amazing new community space.
The Barracks already had a great community hub and garden, but this grant took things to the next level. The funds were used to create a new indoor seating and “chill out” area, a much-needed multi-faith room, and a big upgrade to the kitchen. It’s truly a transformation! The goal was simple: to make the existing welfare facilities even better and to create a more inviting, relaxing, and culturally inclusive space for everyone.
The results have been incredible – the new facilities provide a welcoming space for soldiers and their families to relax and unwind. With over 1,000 personnel benefitting from this project, it’s clear that this new space has made a real impact by helping to foster a stronger sense of community and providing a much-needed break from the demands of military life.
We’re particularly proud that the project also provides a dedicated space for our Foreign and Commonwealth soldiers and their families to celebrate cultural events. This is something that was missing before and by creating an environment where everyone feels seen, valued, and at home is what it’s all about.
