From Sun Protection to Serious Workouts: How the NAAFI Fund is Supporting Price Barracks
The NAAFI Fund are all about making a tangible difference to the lives of our incredible service personnel and their families. Sometimes, it’s the smaller grants that pack the biggest punch, and we’re absolutely thrilled to share a fantastic example of just that!
We recently awarded a grant of £1,530 to British Army Training Support Unit Belize (BATSUB) in Price Barracks. Now, you might be thinking, “What can £1,530 do?”
With this modest but mighty grant, BATSUB has been able to significantly enhance the well-being and operational readiness of BATSUB personnel in two key areas:
Bringing the Outdoors In (Comfortably!): Gazebo Tents for All Occasions!
Belize is known for its stunning climate, but sometimes that sun can be a little too enthusiastic, and those tropical showers can be quite sudden! That’s why we were delighted to support BATSUB in purchasing much-needed gazebo tents.
These fantastic structures will provide essential outdoor shelter for BATSUB personnel during a whole host of activities – from important events and vital training exercises to well-deserved recreational downtime.
These gazebos are more than just tents; they’re hubs for connection and comfort, truly improving the quality of life for everyone at Price Barracks.
Pumping Up the Fitness: New Gear for Serious Gains!
But wait, there’s more! With their grant, BATSUB were also able to give their fitness facilities a brilliant upgrade. They’ve invested in a range of modern and functional equipment, including:
- Resistance bands: Perfect for versatile strength training.
- Abdominal wheels: For core strength that would make a superhero jealous!
- Speed ropes: For upping that cardio game.
- A trampoline: Because who doesn’t love a bit of bouncy fun while getting fit?!
These items will directly contribute to the physical fitness and overall health of both service personnel and BATSUB Staff. We know how crucial physical well-being is for operational readiness and overall morale, and we’re so pleased to have played a part in providing these valuable resources.
WO2 Prakash Gauchan, the project lead, thanked NAAFI for this grant: “The NAAFI Fund has transformed the way we engage with one another as a unit. Not only bringing families, Service personnel and civilian staff together while using the kit and equipment that were bought with the funds, but also improved facilities for everyone, creating a bond outside of work.”
Got a brilliant idea for your unit, we want to hear it! (no matter how small) @naafisocial
