Cosy Up at the Fleet Hydrographic and Meteorological Unit

A Fresh Brew and a Fresh Start at Devonport!

The Fleet Hydrographic and Meteorological Unit at His Majesty’s Naval Base Devonport is buzzing with excitement after receiving a generous £3,245 grant from the NAAFI Fund. This funding has allowed them to transform a previously underutilised space into a welcoming and inviting area for our personnel.

With the NAAFI Fund’s support, they were able to purchase comfortable chairs, stylish coffee tables, vibrant plants, and a much-needed coffee machine. These additions have completely revitalised the space, creating a cosy and inviting atmosphere where the team can relax, collaborate, and unwind.  The new space will also play a vital role in fostering unit cohesion and improving morale.

The stresses and strains of everyday life can take a toll on even the most resilient individuals. The new space offers a much-needed escape from the hustle and bustle of work, providing a tranquil setting where the team can relax and recharge.

With the help of the NAAFI Fund, they’ve created a space that will not only improve the quality of life for our personnel but also contribute to the overall success of the Fleet Hydrographic and Meteorological Unit. Here’s to a brighter future!

Commander Joseph Tretton, Commanding Officer of Fleet Hydrographic and Meteorological Unit said “NAAFI kindly stepped in to provide the funding to allow us to refit an empty office space to create a much-needed recreational room. This was due to the distance of our HQ from the facilities on the base. This new communal space is allowing personnel to take breaks, hold informal meetings and eat lunch away from our desks. We have already noticed that it has enabled communication and bonds to be made away from daily office life and busy periods afloat.”
