A fantastic new space has recently opened in the MoD Corsham Community Centre, and it’s all thanks to a £10,000 grant from the NAAFI Fund, which has enabled the transformation of a previously underutilised side room into a vibrant and engaging Early Years Kids’ Zone.
The removal of an internal wall has created a more open and spacious environment, whilst a new, age-appropriate indoor climbing frame has been installed, providing a safe and stimulating outlet for physical activity and imaginative play. The Kids’ Zone serves as a dedicated space for young children and their caregivers to connect and build friendships.
This project directly addresses the needs of local families, offering a secure and welcoming environment for families across the Tri-Service community living within the vicinity of MOD Corsham.
Claire Cascarina, who applied for the grant and rolled out the project, said “Engagement from families has notably increased which, in turn, enhances morale and enables better personal support delivery mechanisms. A positive community project which benefits the wider community!”
Catherine, a visitor to the centre, said “A huge bonus for the community. A safe and welcoming space for families to get together and little ones to play.”
Another visitor said “Myself and my son, who’s 4 years old, were instantly impressed with the indoor soft play as soon as we saw it. He gave it a good test out and loved it! Having this on the patch, means it’s easy to get to rather than drive to next nearest one – which also isn’t on a bus route.”
