NAAFI Fund Helps RRH Buchan Flex Its Muscles!
Being stationed at a remote site like Remote Radar Head (RRH) Buchan definitely has its perks (stunning views!), but it can also mean limited access to some of the amenities enjoyed at larger bases. That’s why we are thrilled to share some fantastic news: The NAAFI Fund has awarded £10,000 to upgrade their gym facilities!
This isn’t just about new equipment; it’s about investing in the well-being and morale of the dedicated personnel at RRH Buchan. We all know that physical exercise is a powerhouse when it comes to reducing stress and supporting overall physical and mental health. Having a top-notch welfare facility like an upgraded gym on-site will make a huge difference in promoting a healthier, more productive workplace.
And here’s an extra reason to celebrate: Thanks to NAAFI’s access to a wide range of suppliers, we were able to save the project lead at RRH Buchan just under £2,000 through FitShop! This incredible saving meant they could stretch their budget even further, snagging extra weights and machines to make the gym even better. Talk about getting more bang for your buck!
RRH Detachment Commander, said “Since the new gym facility was introduced, I’ve noticed a real positive shift in the team. Staff are more energized, motivated, and engaged throughout the day. Its clear that having space to unwind and stay active is making a meaningful difference in both their well-being and over all performance.”
An Air Specialist 1 (Technician) has felt the benefits of the new gym equipment and stated “Since the arrival of the new gym equipment funded by the NAAFI, the gym at RRH Buchan has significantly improved. The addition of a Chest Fly/Rear Delt Machine and a Lat-pulldown/Low Row Machine has given personnel a greater variety of exercises to do at the gym and the opportunity to be able to have a complete workout.
