Project Dragon’s ride

During Round One, 5 Force Support Battalion received funding of around ยฃ5,000 for a new set of mountain bikes. Getting out on the bikes offers multiple benefits to the personnel including; green and sustainable transport, enriching familiesโ€™ ability to explore the surrounding areas and offering children the opportunity to learn to ride a bike safely.

The Battalionโ€™s new bikes were used for the first time as part of a skills development and training ride, in preparation for the Army Inter United Cross Country race series.

The grant holder explained: โ€œThe injection of enthusiasm that the arrival of these bikes has inflicted has made it almost tangible as every week there are more people showing interest.

โ€˜In the wider spectrum, these bikes have also been a mechanism for growth between local units as we now have a trade-in for old bikes to be switched for new ones.โ€
