At the NAAFI Fund, we know all about the importance of rest and relaxation (R&R) for Serving Personnel. That’s why we were absolutely thrilled to grant RAF Brize Norton £21,000 for a fantastic renovation of their Sports Club facility.
This isn’t just any club; it’s the only all-ranks military-run club on the entire camp, making it a truly central hub for everyone.
The project wasn’t just a quick lick of paint, it involved a complete overhaul, addressing structural issues with the floors and walls. But the real game-changer was the focus on creating a modern, welcoming, and shared space.
- New Infrastructure: The funding was crucial for installing the infrastructure needed to allow for streaming of live sports. Imagine the atmosphere when the big games are on!
- Communal Comfort: With updated furniture and a smart layout, the facility is designed for people to gather and enjoy time together.
The biggest benefit? Personnel now have a dedicated, vibrant space to socialise and unwind together. Before this renovation, many had no choice but to isolate in their Single Living Accommodation (SLA) due of the lack of communal areas. Now, they have a brilliant community setting for that much-needed R&R time.
AS1 Katie Stubley said “The funds the NAAFI have generously provided has allowed the Sports Club to become the highlight of camp for all ranks. Creating a more inviting atmosphere where there has been a notable increase in footfall of traffic and positive attitude, from those that work and socialise there.”
Corporal Ben Cooper said “Personally, working at the bar is now more enjoyable with a plethora of entertainment options and improved sound system.”
Fund Manager, Hannah McCourt, and Brand and PR Assistant, Haydn Fort, had the privilege of attending the Grand Opening!
“It was a fantastic day, and we loved meeting the dedicated team who made this project a reality. A huge congratulations to the project lead, Sgt Rebecca Price for championing this vital project and seeing it through to such a spectacular finish. Rebecca and her team’s hard work has given the entire camp a fabulous new venue!”
Cheers to RAF Brize Norton, we hope you enjoy every minute of your incredible new Sports Club!
