Mental health and community garden in Wales
£10,000 was awarded to develop two garden areas at the Ministry of Defence St Athan base in Wales.
The project aims to create attractive garden areas for Serving Personnel, their families and the wider community.
The key focus of the project was to provide an opportunity for garden visitors to maintain and improve their own mental health and wellbeing, while also providing a safe learning environment for those wishing to explore gardening and give back to the environment.
Members of the community can use their own allotted space to grow vegetables, socialise in the garden or recuperate in the tranquil mental health garden.
The development of the garden has been exciting for the families stationed here, bringing the community together and fostering a real sense of belonging.
