The NAAFI Fund has awarded a fantastic grant of £3,570 to the incredible RAF Odiham Airplay Youth Club which aims to benefit 70+ young people in the area who reguarly attend this vital facility!
This Airplay club is a welcoming hub – the only youth building within walking distance for those living in Service Families Accommodation (SFA), making it an essential part of the community.
The dedicated team of four staff members at RAF Odiham have been busy doing what all great leaders do: listening! They chatted with the young attendees to find out exactly what they need to make their club even better and what fantastic ideas they had.
This NAAFI Fund grant was the answer to those requests and filling newly refurbished (but a little empty!) building with things that spark joy, creativity, and connection.
Thanks to this grant, the club has been able to purchase an exciting and inspiring range of goods, ensuring every young person has something amazing to get stuck into.
Sports & Games: For getting active, building teamwork, and a healthy dose of friendly competition.
Art & Recreational Equipment: Unleashing that inner Picasso or just having a great time getting creative.
Non-Formal Educational Fun: Activities that encourage group participation, new ways of working and learning, and allow them to refine their favourite activities and learn an array of new skills without even realising it!
This fantastic new equipment is going to elevate their visits to a whole new level, encouraging them to engage with their peers in new ways and giving them a renewed sense of pride and ownership over their club.
At the heart of this grant is a simple, powerful message: Your voices and ideas are valued, heard, and supported.
By providing these resources, we’re not just funding fun; we are supporting the mental, physical, and emotional health and well-being of these young people. The aim is to create the most enriching and nurturing environment possible—a place where they can grow, feel safe, and thrive for years to come.
