Mountain Bikes for 20th Armoured Infantry Brigade Combat Team

In 2023, the NAAFI Fund awarded £5,000 to 20th Armoured Infantry Brigade Combat Team for a fleet of brand-new mountain bikes.

Based in Salisbury, this project has made mountain biking more accessible and is now an important element of the Headquarters adventurous activity programme.

Personnel on the unit are able to explore their surroundings and take much-needed time away from their desks, building team cohesion and improving individual welfare.

Project sponsor, Major William McCarthy, said: “There is an ever-growing Mountain Biking Club in the Brigade Headquarters and it’s a great way for the personnel to bond away from their desks.

‘Our previous bikes were loaned from local units or hired at a cost, and this project has ensured that the activity is more accessible and more economical in the long term.”
