The NAAFI Fund have sprinkled some book magic into the RAF Akrotiri Library in Cyprus, with a grant of £1,500, which means brand new books for everyone!
Imagine stepping into your library and seeing shelves packed with shiny, new stories just waiting to be explored. That’s exactly what’s happening in Akrotiri, with new titles including Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Diper Overlode, The Four Winds, Little Monsters, Spaceboy and The Maid. Whether you want to soar through the sky with dragons, solve mysteries with super-sleuths, or learn amazing facts about our planet, there’s a book for everyone.
Antony Haralambous, Project Lead, said “The new books have given people the opportunity to get out of their homes, to come to the library and meet other people – modern and upgraded libraries create stronger communities.”
Regular Library users said:
“We have used the library since my son was 6 months old and he’s just turned two. The variation in books is superb and saves me having to buy new books that my toddler would only read for a couple of months.”
“It’s beneficial, both my wife and I have taken books out regularly since being posted here 7 months ago!”
“Simply put, without the NAAFI Fund grant, the Akrotiri library would not be able to buy new books to appeal to readers, especially those under eight years of age. I have personally introduced and talked up the Library’s collection of new children’s books to mothers of young children who I know.”
So, grab your library card and get ready to dive into a world of stories – Happy reading!
