East Midlands University Officers’ Training Corps Take on New Adventures

The East Midlands University Officer Training Corps (UOTC) are buzzing with excitement after receiving a fantastic £9,000 grant from the NAAFI Fund. This generous funding has made it possible to purchase a fleet of brand-new cross-country bikes, ensuring that Officer Cadets and staff can enjoy even more exhilarating adventures.

These cross-country bikes are not just for fun; they’re a fantastic tool for enhancing fitness, leadership, and team-building skills. Officer Cadets will have the opportunity to push their physical limits while exploring the beautiful countryside surrounding their training base.

By cycling together, Officer Cadets can get to know each other in a more informal and relaxed setting. It’s a chance to laugh, challenge each other, and build lasting friendships.

Embarking on cross-country bike rides is an adventure filled with challenges and opportunities for growth. Officer Cadets will learn how to navigate different terrains, work together as a team, and overcome obstacles. These experiences will undoubtedly help them develop valuable leadership and problem-solving skills.

Captain Simon Hale, Project Sponsor, said “These bikes have been instrumental in East Midlands University Officers’ Training Corps in year plan to create a positive leaning environment whilst partaking in sports and recreational activities whilst attending the unit.  Staff and students alike have benefited from their use and the bikes have been used whilst at our home base in Nottingham as well as whilst away on summer camp in Altcar over the summer.”
