1st Battalion Scots Guards Makeover is a Smashing Success!

We’re excited to share the amazing transformation of the Welfare Suite in Somme Barracks, Catterick, thanks to £6,000 from the NAAFI Fund! Previously a worn and tired space, thanks to the support of the NAAFI Fund, it’s now a fantastic socialising spot for soldiers, their families and their children.  It’s a place where families can unwind, kids can play, and everyone feels welcome.

The space was given a fresh lick of paint, and some welcoming wall art installed to brighten up the area.  Now, Forces communities can relax on the comfy sofas and catch up on their favourite shows with the new smart TV.  The unit plans to use the new screen for important updates about deployments, as well as hosting some awesome game nights too!

The little ones haven’t been forgotten either, with a brand-new toy area, complete with a soft play and ball pit.

Captain Allan Reid, Project Lead, said “The families have started to use the facility more and the children have got something to do when they attend.  It has created a warmer environment for people to relax and meet new people.”

What do you think of our new space? Let us know over on @naafisocial!
