A new community hub for the 29EOD&S group support unit

Based in rural Wimbish, the 29EOD&S Group Support Unit in the Carver Barracks recently received a £20,000 NAAFI Fund grant to turn an underused building into a multi-functional community hub for all to use.

The hub offers space for variety of activities for spouses and service personnel including hot desking, a barber shop, a multi-faith room and a meeting space.

Local Command commented: “As a rural, isolated station the need to increase amenity for single soldiers as well as families is something that I feel strongly about. The area will enable the development of an underused facility to the benefit of all.  It will provide a gathering point as well as opportunities for spouses to be able to increase their social interaction in a safe manner.”
