Community Centre Enhancement for RAF Wyton

During Round 3 of the NAAFI Fund, £25,000 was awarded to RAF Wyton, based in Cambridgeshire, to improve their Community Centre.

The project’s aim was to turn a previously under-used facility into a family-friendly community hub for everyone to feel at home and enjoy their down time.

The team at RAF Wyton introduced brand new play equipment, laptops, TV’s, secure fencing and sheds to store toys, all with the same aim of improving welfare of personnel.

Since then, the facility has hosted a range of events from computer coding workshops and teddy bear picnics to Easter parties and King’s Coronation celebrations, meaning there’s something for everyone at the newly upgraded hub.

Project sponsor, Gill Angel, said: “The community centre is now something we can be extremely proud of, and we love welcoming people.

‘A highlight so far has been over 150 people celebrating the King’s Coronation at the facility. We had a wide range of tasty Commonwealth-themed food, which was consumed within an hour and a half – those that arrived later in the day unfortunately had to miss out!”
