Celebrating Month of the Military Child with Project Greensleeves!
Itβs April, and that means itβs Month of the Military Child! Weβre celebrating all the awesome kids and families who make our military community so amazing.
The NAAFI Fund recently approved a grant of Β£6,000 to 3 Medical Regimentβs Project Greensleeves! You might be wondering, βWhatβs Project Greensleeves?β Well, it is a fantastic garden, where everyone can have fun and relax β the little adventurers can zoom around the climbing frames and burn off all that energy. Meanwhile, the grown-ups get to relax in the comfy gazebo with a hot drink and have a nice chat with friends. Itβs a perfect little hangout spot for the whole family!
Playing in the garden and growing plants is really great for everyone, especially children, and thatβs exactly what Project Greensleeves is all about. The project committee have created a special place where Serving Personnel and their families can:
- Chill out and relax: They have a paved patio area with a wooden gazebo and some comfy seating where you can hang out with friends and family.
- Grow awesome stuff! Theyβve got planters ready for personnel to grow yummy vegetables and pretty flowers.
- Have fun with friends and family: Fantastic barbeques in the summer, and just hanging out in a green space.
Lt Col Catherine Masling, CO 3 Medical Regiment, thanked NAAFI for the funding, stating β3 Med Regt now has a safe and inviting outdoor social space for unit personnel and their families to enjoy, all thanks to Project GREENSLEEVES funded by NAAFI. The Project brought people from across the Regt together to work.β
SSgt Mark Smith REME, LAD, 3 Medical Regt said βThis project brought a large selection of the committee together to build the new facilities. It was nice to see and meet new people. It was also nice to see children attending to help out and learn new skills. in all a a great gathering of people in the sunshine (most of the time) to do some relaxing gardening and socialising.β
